I installed the RC because I thought I would really like the new style, but I’m in doubt after seeing it IRL on my iPhone…
I really liked the dark and tinted icons in the earlier public betas… but they’ve changed the tint and I’m not so keen. It might be due to accessibility issues, but they no longer look so bold and are now washed out.
I did not even try those yet…
Thank you for reminding me that these are new options as well.
One reason I like the new-style-no-text icons is that the screen looks better with iPhone mirroring on Sequoia.

I use widgets almost exclusively for my most common apps: mail, calendars, reminders, tasks, battery, weather, etc. And use search/siri to open other apps. How an icon appears is not important to me.
I did not like the look of the bigger icons on my phone. It simultaneously reminded me of the big button phones they used to make for seniors and the colorful big button toy phones made for toddlers.
I could care less about this useless tweak. I just want to be able to put more than 4 effing icons in the dock and have more than 4 columns and 6 rows on the home screen. Why is my Pro Max stuck with the same size app grid as a Mini?
Android had that feature a decade ago. Maybe if we’re lucky in another 10 years Apple will introduce it under a fancy new name and pretend it’s an innovation.
Without a label, who knows what app iA Writer’s new icon belongs to?
