Who is affected with Apple refund policy

**Hello Everyone **
Since about one year , I have noticed a big change in Apple refund policy. I had to pay hundreds of dollars because apple keep rejecting the refund. There is only one appeal option , once the claim is rejected, there is high chance the appeal will be rejected too. Recently, I subscribed to strava for a trial and apple has charged me the one month fee, I asked for refund and they rejected. I am being the Apple customer having apple echo system, feeling really frustrated on this poor level of customer service. I prefer to have the option to subscribe out of apple app store,

Was that a large amount at once? Or the sum of many small ones?

Maybe Apple has flagged your account because you request/use “too many” refunds?

The way you’ve described the issue you’re having and implied in your post suggests to me that your understanding of what the ability to ask Apple for a refund and my own understanding are very different.

My understanding is that if you are defrauded out of money or misled to what an app can do, then you may request a refund.

This is not a scheme to try and claim a refund if you don’t like an app or service, it’s also not there to refund you a subscription if you enter a trial and don’t cancel the subscription in time (usually more than 24 hours before you’re due to be charged).

The implication that you’ve requested refunds on a regular basis suggests that you are not making requests which align with the purpose of the process.

On a different basis, because this process will (at least in part) be automated, there will be thresholds and analysis of the person’s previous track record by an algorithm where if you request refunds a lot, this will raise red flags and will be far more likely to be refused, this will also weigh in on any appeals.

I’m not inside the process so I’m making certain assumptions, but I think that you probably need to look at why you’re having to make so many requests for refunds and why these total hundreds of dollars and change your behaviour or thought process.

I’ve only done two returns. The latest, a couple years ago, was an iPad I didn’t even open. I took it straight to the Apple Store and got a 100% refund. No issue.

The first was problematic. I bought a 1st generation iPod Mini, my first Apple product, and an accessory which allowed listening to the iPod through my car radio. Hey, this was 20 years ago! The accessory worked perfectly but for some reason the iPod wouldn’t play many of my MP3s. I took the iPod and accessory back to the Apple store and they gave me 100% refund on the non-Apple accessory but they only did an 80% refund on the iPod, even though it was effectively defective! So I was out $50. Gotta wonder why I ever bought another Apple product.

I returned a 2016 MBP after Apple unexpectedly released the 2017 during the return period. Then I ordered the 2017, which got upgrades through Ventura. The 2016 only made it to Monterrey.

Would you have returned it if they still had the 20% restocking fee?

Because you mentioned Strava I thought you were referring to the App Store (software), but I see others reply about Apple stores (hardware).

Which one are you complaining about?

Probably not.

I think OP was talking about the App Store and some of us got off-topic.
