Will uploading videos into apple notes overload it?

Hello,

I’m trying to decide between uploading or iCloud linking a bunch of video lectures for some courses I’m taking into apple notes for each lecture. I find the clicks required for iCloud linking such a pain, and clicked links on the Mac open the finder location rather than the file directly, as on iPad. These two quibbles led me to consider just creating a note for each lecture with the lecture video uploaded directly to the note.

Will this bloat/overload apple notes? I get that linking is probably best for apple notes speed (iCloud is already painfully slow), but wondering what the “redline” is for apple notes content uploading. Some of these lectures are over 700mb and contain musical recordings, so I don’t want to compress them or compromise on video quality.

Thanks!

Would Keynote work better? One video with notes per slide. Different document per week.

One note hooked up to One Drive might be a viable solution.

A good approach would be to store them in DEVONthink and link from DT to Apple Notes. I don’t know if there is a limit in Apple Notes, but I prefer to keep most documents in DT or Finder and reserve Apple Notes primarily, though not exclusively, for text. This keeps DT for storage, AN for notes.

For instance, here’s a screenshot of DTTG and Apple Notes. On the left, I’m reading two articles from DTTG. On the right, I’ll be taking notes and drafting a blog article inspired by Lewis’s sermon, which emphasizes why war, or any other personal or social challenge, shouldn’t hinder our studies or any other meaningful pursuits.

This does look very convenient, and I do have devonthink, but I wanted to arrange the course both for my convenience and access on the iPad but also for my wife. I feel that might be too difficult for her as a non-DT user. But I will consider and look into this further.

it’s funny how the simpler solution is usually best. I suppose I could just embed the videos into a keynote or even pages document that I can just share with my wife (we are sharing the course) over iCloud (or just duplicate for her). I use Word/PPT everyday at work, but always overlook Pages/Keynote for personal digital projects.
In apple notes I’ve been trying to replicate a sort of navigation page with linked notes, which I thought was going to be an elegant solution but is more wanky than I’d have liked. A pages/keynote document will just have the navigation automatically through the use of headings…
Thanks for this (now) obvious recommendation. I’m going to try this instead.
Cheers.

Without knowing the exact data format on the back end, it’s hard to say. But I would suggest that as a general rule, “embedding” huge documents in any software is a rather bad idea. Always best to link to something external.
