With Obsidian, how can I control whether YouTube link opens in Safari or the Media Extended plug-in?

With Obsidian, I want to:

  • Click a YouTube link and have it open in my System’s default browser (Safari).
  • Click a YouTube link while holding Media Extended’s modifier (Shift-Option-Command) and have it open in a new window using the Media Extended plug-in.

Here’s what my links look like:

Things I have tried

  • Turned OFF the core web viewer plug-in (hoping this would cause Obsidian to Open the page in Safari)

  • Turned ON the Media Extended plug-in and:

  1. Set the default link click to “Default Obsidian behavior.” (I was hoping this would cause it to open in Safari, since the web viewer is turned off. Instead, it opens the video in the current pane.)
  2. Set the alternative behavior to Open in a new window. (This works when I click while holding Shift-Option-Command.)

The only way I can get it to open in Safari is if I turn off both the core web viewer plug-in and Media Extended. Apparently, as long as Media Extended is running, it opens in Safari, even if the core web viewer plug-in is disabled.

Any suggestions on how I should set this up?
