I totally would! But given the fact that it has been completely denied, why would you spend one second worrying about it (or writing articles about it)???
People are strange.
Summary (without clickbait title) for people in countries without Apple News?
“Apple is doomed because someone else might make a mobile phone, even though the someone else has denied it. And if some else made a mobile phone, and if that phone had an App Store, and if the phone and App Store were really, really successful they would take some business from Apple.”
Note: Apple stock price rose on publication of the story
Because if I was creating a competitive product to Apple, I would deny it until I was prepared to announce and release it. A denial does not necessarily mean the product is not under research and development. I’m not sure I would believe everything that Musk says. ![]()
Do we really want to waste time opining on every tech rumor? Besides, the majority of people here are going to stick with iPhones.
Two things:
- The article said that Elon denied it, then ‘apparantly’ deleted the post. This is incorrect. The original post was deleted, but not Elon’s response:
- I have to wonder – Steve Jobs was known to do this, deny something but later reveal that they were, in fact, working on it. But are there any known cases where Elon has done this? From my memory the main complaint about Elon is actually promising things and then delivering them much later, or at lower levels, than promised. Not the opposite.
Why not? If we don’t discuss tech rumors all that’s left is telling people “No, Apple is never going to give you more than 5GB of free iCloud storage.”
I thought it known before this article that Starlink was working on a phone in addition to their 5G service. Either way, I have trouble seeing satellite 5G providers hurting iPhone; it should just make an iPhone more useful, even if the provider also competes on hardware.
Good point. I’m just not a big fan of people who post articles without providing any of their own thoughts. To me, if you’re going to post an article like this, provide some thought as to why you think it’s worth discussing in the forum.
I’ve been guilt of posting articles without comment. New weather app from creators of dark sky, Joanna Stern has quit the WSJ, . . . And sometimes I will post a follow up story at the end of an older thread.
I started listening to MPU when I was still working in I.T. Two lawyers talking about tech gave me insights into the needs of regular users that I found useful in my job. Later I joined this forum because I still enjoy helping people when I can. And hanging out with other computer enthusiasts when everything is going smooth.
Good idea. I’ll try to do that going forward. ![]()
My apologies. I certainly did not mean to post anything that might not have merit or serve as a catalyst for good discussion. I intended my thread title, “I wouldn’t,” to provide commentary, though admittedly very limited. Suffice it to say that I am not a fan of Musk and have no intention of doing business with any of his companies if it is avoidable. I will leave it at that. ![]()
