For when I am reading and writing, I prefer entirely instrumental smooth jazz of the “café” type. I created a custom playlist using the search words “Jazz smooth cafe more Sax no singing.” Below is a screenshot of a few of the songs. I currently have forty-five songs, for three hours and twenty-four minutes of playing time. I am sure that I will add more as time goes along. This “genre” does not interfere with my thinking and writing. However, I have found a few mistakes in that a few of the songs include vocals, which I’ll delete.
Tastes in music vary widely. Some of you would hate this. Others may like it.
In addition to simply telling Siri to play “Smooth Jazz Cafe,” you can use Apple Intelligence in the Music app to create a similar playlist, which is what I ultimately did. I downloaded the playlist so that it is available when I am on planes.
This also works well on Spotify, using the “Create Prompted Playlist” feature, which I’ve set to auto-update each Monday. I’ve done a similar playlist for Lofi music which I love as background to work.
