Surely, Mac Power Users probably get free 3 months of Apple TV+ from your purchase of Apple products. Did you try it What are the shows that you enjoyed? The usual popular ones like The Morning Show, Ted Lasso, For All Mankind, Severance and Silo are really good. What else?
I recently have watched Shrinking (comedy show featuring Harrison Ford), Dark Matter (a sci fi multiverse show) and have just started on Sugar. They are all very good. Hidden gem, if you will. Slow Horses (4 Seasons in and yet still feel refreshing). There was this Idris Elba Hijacked, which is ok but good entertainment. I also watched Tehran and Liaison. Both are pretty refreshing shows to me as they took place in Iran and UK/France.
I am currently in the middle of a 90 day freebie and have watched several of the same shows. Try “Masters of the Air” a WW2 story about an actual group of airmen.
Ah, lots of promotion of that show and those scenes on the air was very well done. Thanks.
Somehow the feature length movie is kinda disappointing. I did not finish Napoleon nor Killer of Flower Moon. The Instigator is kinda meh to me. There’s a new one, Wolfs by Brad Pitt and George Clooney. I hope this one is good.
There are plenty of gems on Apple TV+. Some others to add to the list are Acapulco, Women In Blue and Lessons in Chemistry. Earthsounds, Tiny World, and Omnivore are also outstanding documentaries.
I second this, Slow Horses is a fantastic series (if you don’t mind excessive cursing).
Most other things I look at while using a free trial were very average. Like Topre, I didn’t finish Napoleon and Killer of Flower Moon as I thought they were both really boring and uncompelling. I tried to watch Napoleon with all my family and no-one wanted to finish it out of eight of us! I may resubscribe for a while to finish Slow Horses, once all the episodes of the new series are released. I couldn’t find any other programs on the service that were to my taste, so I unsubscribed.
Slow Horses, Bad Monkey, and Ted Lasso have been popular in our household. Not for everyone, but I also enjoyed Severence, Acapulco, and Home (documentary).
Bad sisters was very good. I may be biased though because my wife is Irish, I’m so aware of her sisters. I got really worried when one of her sisters bought a new shovel.
I enjoyed Bad Sisters as well. I lived and worked in Eire for about a year, so I’ve had a good dose of the Irish sense of humour. p.s. Season 2 is starting November 12.
Yes, I will be getting at least a month of tv+ just to watch new Severance. That show is up there with Breaking Bad for me.
Then there’s some shows my wife and I really enjoyed together; Morning Show, Trying, and Shrinking are all really good in their own way.
And I really liked the non-fiction series too, Home I think it’s called was an early one, just about unique homes, super interesting. Earth at Night in Color is good.
And I have a soft spot for sci-fi, so I enjoyed Dark Matter a lot (partly because I loved the book) and Invasion.
I am glad that I bring this topicup. I now have some shows that I have lined up to watch, thanks to all of you. Apple TV+ needs to get more air time and awareness. There are some really good stuff in there and I like how “high-def/good quality in terms of just visual quality” these shows are. There’s that Apple-touch in them.
I am now at Episode 4 of Sugar by Colin Farrel. And Anna Gunn, Breaking Back, has some role there too. Nice! The show started as a PI looking for a missing girl and have some mix of noir to it. That noir added some flair to a good ol dectective work but four episodes in, I can see that there’s some mysteries waiting to be unravel and I bet there’s going to be some big twist in there too. I hope it doesn’t spoil the pace.
Normally I don’t want to binge watch a show but this is hard to put down.
We don’t watch a lot of TV, but the first season of Ted, Severance, and Slow Horses are fantastic. I think SH is maybe the most consistently good show on TV these days.
We’ve tried others but struggle to last more than an episode or two. It’s not just an Apple thing; I think all these companies pursuing content means that the Golden Age of TV is behind us and we are now very comfortable in the Mid Age of TV. Everything is mid.
I will ad that I aspire to be the sort of person who watches Pachinko, which looks excellent.
We have really enjoyed a lot of shows, all already mentioned here I think: Ted Lasso, Shrinking, For All Mankind, Morning Show, Slow Horses, etc.
Really enjoyed Masters of the Air, as well. I really need to read this book — it was given to me by a previous boss who happened to be the commander one level above the Eight Air Force commander…which is the organization that performed the European campaign in WWII…pretty amazing what those people did. Humbling.
