I’m getting there - New Desk

I’m been visiting our Scottish office this week and they were disposing of some furniture due to a downsizing of the office space, (it had space for 24 people and lots of break out space. Most days there were 3 people there) and I managed to snag an IKEA Bekant motorised sit stand desk. Luckily it would fit into my car for the 200 mile trip home.

Our company is very good in letting people work from wherever they wish, so long as they achieve their goals, except for a few roles where they need to be office based.

I work hybrid between my home and the office in the centre of Manchester 2/3 days either way a week.

Below is my current workspace at home, I have a similar setup in the office, but no sit/stand ironically. My personal IT kit is in a bureau desk in the bedroom.
Please excuse the mess, our conservatory ends up being a storage space sometimes.

IKEA Bekant desk, 1.2m x 0.8m, fully motorised. it goes up to 126cm. Unfortunately it doesn’t memorise heights, but beggars can’t be choosers.
IKEA Drawers underneath for storing stuff
IKEA Vattenkar monitor stand which can either be one monitor stand with a shelf or two separate shelves (which works well for me at the moment)
2 x Dell 24” Monitors, the one on the right is a little older and has no height adjustment, but was £10 from my daughters workplace as they’ve moved to Macs. The one on the left is more recent, has excellent height adjustment and swivels to portrait. It also raises higher then the first one which is useful so they’re now side by side. At some point I may upgrade to a 27” monitor and/or a Widescreen monitor. Screenspace if important to me as I often need access to 2 or 3 documents at the same time.
Dell WD22TB4 dock is solid, I can plug in my Work MBP, Work Dell Windows Laptop, iPad or Phone.
The light/lamp is a generic one off Amazon (Qoolteck) as the lighting in the conservatory is not good first thing in the morning or in the evening. It draws power from the Dell Dock and turns off when I disconnect the Laptop from the dock.
Webcam is a pretty generic Logi 720 webcam, I think they’re about £22 these days. It works as I have a pretty generic face

I’m looking forward to living the sit/stand lifestyle properly over the next few weeks and even getting some walkingpad sessions in during non interactive meetings through the day.

It’s taken me a while to get here as a year ago I was crammed into the corner of the bedroom for both work and personal.

Nice. You forgot however to spec the Coke bottle. It’s the small stuff that can make the difference in comfort as you might know.

500ml Diet Coke which is a staple of my work desks.

A nice setup indeed!

I am heavily invested in the Pepsi Max ecosystem, however I firmly believe that we should embrace our differences

The other 3/4 of my household have similar preferences to yourself, but I still tolerate them

Oh, and Gollum is from the Extended Version, special box set of the Lord of the Rings, The Two Towers. I also have Minas Tirith from the LOTR, Return of the King Extended edition Box set.

Unfortunately I missed out on the Argonath figures in the LOTR, Fellowship of the Rings box set. :sob: #firstworldproblems
