Did you still keep it ? lol
Yes, I’ll be keeping mine. I didn’t mind the difference that much, and I love the portability.
I also have the 12.9 but I keep that for at home as it’s so heavy (especially with the keyboard and trackpad).
For my part, at least, I’m finding TouchID on the mini more reliable than it was on my last TouchID iPhone (the iPhone 7). Still not as good as FaceID, but good enough. I did just delete and re-add one of my fingers in particular that was giving me trouble. That seems to have helped.
I find it reliable; the thing that’s messing me up is the location. It’s taking awhile to get used to.
I agree that it took a bit of time, but I’d say after a week or so I’d gotten used to it.
Mind you, I used it a lot in that week, so it may have more to do with how many “pickups” . I find the on-screen hint to be very useful.
I am struggling too with Touch ID. What is the fastest way to unlock and open. I recognize this is a two part procedure that Face ID hides as one continuous process. Should I swipe up and then touch or touch and then swipe up? Or am I missing some other one step process altogether?
Maybe I should hold it upside down so the Touch ID and the swipe are not at opposite ends of the mini.
I replaced the last mini that had the button. It felt easier to unlock and open. I do love the new one though. Especially purple in an orange cover.
Neither. If the screen is off, click the power button, then leave your finger resting gently on the button for a moment and it will unlock. If the screen is already on, just rest your finger on the button. No need for any swiping.
Settings → Accessibility → Display & Text Size → Larger Text
I guess I am referring to the swipe to get to the Home Screen after unlocking. I do almost nothing on the notifications page. Is there a way that unlocking will immediately take you to the Home Screen?
Found it in accessibility. Rest to open. Thanks @ChrisUpchurch for making me look a little harder. I never think about accessibility until you just mentioned it for text size
To add to this: as of iOS/iPadOS 15, you can also adjust text size on a system-wide or app-by-app basis via Control Center. You have to add the option in Control Center in Settings initially, but then you can make the adjustment at any time.
I think I’m the outlier, but I actually prefer TouchID.
I use my iPad for sheet music (ChartBuilder) with a Bluetooth page turner pedal, and if my iPad turned off for some reason (which it often did regardless of auto-sleep Settings) I had to get WAY too close to my iPad Pro on stage to get it to come back on again
