Where are you seeing that it’s sold out? It lets me put it in the cart, but stalls out and crashes when processing.

Looks like its a hit or miss case.
Its not clear, if its a lifetime license for MS Office 2021 with updates for 2021 or for lifetime of MS Office free updates 2021, 2022, 2023 … 
may be it is really hit and miss, I managed to pay for it , now waiting for the license code.

What kind of license is it. Just Updates for 2021. If so lifetime would be roughly 3 to 5 years before Microsoft stops shipping updates to this version.

It is a license for this version (2021) and updates to it, which will be available for a few years before you “need” to update to a new version.
