Monitor for new M4 Mac Mini

Rumors have it that the new M4 Mac Minis will be announced this coming week. I’m planning on finally replacing my 2017 27" iMac, and I have the desk space for a 32" monitor. Any suggestions for a 32" or 27" monitor? I’m hoping to stay under $1000.00. Thanks!

Not under 1k but for me there was no way around the Studio Display after having been spoiled by the 27“ iMac 5k display for ten years .
I tried a bunch of displays, both 27 and 32 inch. The 32 inch turned out to feel too large for me in real life … I would have sworn 32 would be perfect for me but the testing revealed other wise.

Most of the 27 inch ones were too dark, not crisp, not color accurate or bad build quality.

Ever since I decided for the Studio Display I‘m happy again … even though I’d love an M4 27“ iMac again .

I’m all for the Studio Display, it might be expensive upfront but having paid for 3 different 1k+ monitors before getting it, has proven to be more expensive.

I have this one and love it:

Having slowly made the switch away from two Intel iMac 27" (one replaced with Mac Studio plus Studio Display) the other replaced with MacBook Air plus Studio Display) I will probably never go back to an all-in-one, even if Apple did make one again.

The utility of being able to upgrade the computer and monitor separately, and the different expected usage life of each, is a vast improvement once the initial cost bump is crossed.

I also find the cable management must simpler than the early days of box + monitor computing and the flexibiity in placing the monitor seperately from the computer outweighs the slight inconvenience of not having everything in one unified enclosure.

Until they refresh the Studio 27” it’s hard to justify purchase right now.

I got a Samsung m70 32” 4k for a rather cheap price, so until Apple revs their monitor lineup it will do. It’s not perfect, but mostly does the job.

Bang for buck, this one is worthy of consideration - https://www.dell.com/en-au/shop/dell-ultrasharp-40-curved-thunderbolt-hub-monitor-u4025qw/apd/210-bmjy/monitors-monitor-accessories

(Yes I know it’s a Dell, and that it would likely hurt my eyes from a design perspective, however feature set is rather good).

Why is that? Are there rumors about a new version? Is something wrong with them?

I do hope though that they will announce a new monitor this week (I think I would like a cheaper one without camera / speakers).

If you are okay with going up to 42 inches, get the LG C1/C2/C3/C4 42 inches OLED TV. It’s in your budget and depending on the generation you buy, it might be under budget, and it’s better than any other traditional monitor you can get. It will also do 4k @ 120hz with VRR easy.

Without knowing what you use the Mac for (email, web browsing, document writing) or more demanding things like (photo/video editing) , it’s hard to steer you in a direction. I’ve used LG monitors for a while which there are many to choose from under $1000. Can’t see spending the cash for Studio Display for the first set of tasks I described.

I have an M7 32’’ with my Mac mini and it was dirt cheap, and more than adequate for my needs (not a gamer, not a video pro, just regular office work and some coding and Logic).

+1 for Samsung M7 Monitor
Serves purpose of office work very well! :+1:t3:

Thanks all! I’ll look more into the Alogic, Samsung and Dell monitors.

If you can wait a couple more months, the ASUS is coming out with a 5K version of the ProArt at around $800

I have to throw in a vote for the LG Ultrafine 5K 27". It is basically the Studio Display with a worse bezel & stand (and worse speakers, if that matters to you). They are regularly well under a $1000 on Amazon these days.

You get the display you really want and compromise by having it surrounded by plastic instead of metal, all for about half the price. Good deal.

At this point I’m keeping my basic but functional 27" 4K Dell Ultrasharp and praying Apple releases an updated Studio Display with 120hz refresh rate next year.

Yes, let’s have a new Studio Display with the webcam from the latest iMac! That sounds like a great monitor. I hope we don’t have to wait all the way until 2025.

Not to throw shade on your vote, but I’ve seen a lot of these on OfferUp in my area that are broken or inoperable. The bezel seems to be especially fragile.

For anyone else interested in this one; here’s a review:

I did not like the matte (grain) of Apple displays, so I’m afraid I have to see this one myself to decide whether this is “the one” for me. Hope ASUS brings it to Europe!
