This is one of those things that seems like it ought to be simple, but I haven’t been able to get any of the obvious ways to work. I have an HTML file in the Files app (in Working Copy if it makes any difference) and I want to open it in Safari. Is there any way to do this?
Hmmm, interesting. It doesn’t look like it. I tried creating an extension in workflow which opens the passed in input to “Open in safari” but whilst that displays the contents, it doesn’t create a new tab in Safari containing the file, just displays it the same way as taping the file in the Files app does.
I also tried opening a file url, file:///Working%20Copy/Test/test.html, in Safari and got a pop-up letting me know that Safari can’t open local files. So it could be Apple have knobbled this behaviour probably due to Sandboxing issues.
Can you get the file onto your Mac and open it there?
I’m trying to figure out a way to do this without leaving the iPad.
