From Proton’s blog post:
“Swiss foundations and their board of trustees are legally obligated to act in accordance with the purpose for which they were established, which, in this case, is to defend Proton’s original mission. As the largest voting shareholder of Proton, no change of control can occur without the consent of the foundation, allowing it to block hostile takeovers of Proton, thereby ensuring permanent adherence to the mission.”

They’ve just recently released the Safari extension, and an (electron) Mac app.
Been using for over a year now, and can fully recommend for individual use. Migrating from 1Password was quite easy. The autofill works just as well. The alias creation is convenient. (And I get it bundled with email, VPN, fully encrypted cloud storage with a good Mac client.)
I did have to replace my 1Password-synced SSH keys with device specific keys in Secretive (GitHub - maxgoedjen/secretive: Store SSH keys in the Secure Enclave).
