There’s also ProMotion display on the iPad Pro that’s not available on the Air. Wouldn’t discount that for people who used the Apple Pencil a lot. Might not be noticeable for some.
Im bummed that Fitness+ doesn’t launch globally. I wonder what’s Apple’s reason with that. With News+ they said they wanted to include local news site for each country that’s why it’s restricted to some countries but I don’t get why not for Fitness+ since AppleTV+ is global.
This has nothing to do with the USB power adapter. Lightening or USB it still needs a power adapter.
It does, since that precise piece piece of technology is superfluous in a vast majority of cases. If you don’t have one, you certainly have a friend with one to spare.
The cables tend to break after 6-8 months, and we have to buy new ones. I’d be perfectly fine with them leaving out the brick because I have more than enough USB ports available.
Not supplying the cable is just cheap and only meant to increase their margins.
If they’s just said: Ok , we’re removing the power adapter, but putting in a really strong durable cable to protect the environment by reducing waste from cables ending up in landfills.
At that point I’d believe them.
The fact that power adapters are still bundled with the Apple Watch Edition and Hermès models contradicts the message of removing them from the cheaper models for environmental reasons. They should have removed them across the board if they didn’t want people to feel nickel and dimed.
How? They sell a tiny amount of Edition and Hermes, so there is no real impact.
Much more important to save where it counts.
Formula 1 cars are not a climate problem either, just consumer cars and trucks are.
So you mean to say Beg Borrow or …
I can understand your side of argument. But I can use as many bricks too. I don’t have to lug around along with the cables. If they were so concerned with environment then give the option of giving customers the brick if they really need one.
At this point it’s Apple putting the blame on Environment and pocketing the money.
From your analogy “Lets only tax cars and trucks and not Formula One cars”
$20 for a common man goes a long way than $20 for a guy owing Hermes watch or formula one car.
Now that’s a very stupid move which undermines the whole message. It doesn’t matter that they sell a handful of those, if they want the message to come across (since it’s not universally welcomed, as this thread proves), it should be across the board.
I love Apple and they’re among the smartest people on the planet but it baffles me how they can deliberately shoot themselves in the foot sometimes.
I stand corrected.
My initial thought was removing the power adapter from the watch and possibly/probably the new iPhones will result in additional revenue for Apple and a higher cost for many consumers.
Considering that Apple has just dodged a $14.9 billion tax bill, and has new antitrust investigations into the App Store and Apple Pay, it seemed like a bad time to do something that would bring additional consumer complaints.
Isn’t the power adapter universal.
As @anon85228692 has noted, it is not about the numbers but the message. They sell a significantly smaller number of watches than phones and so, by your argument, they needn’t bother taking this step with the watch at all. If the step has been taken, as Apple contends, out of concern for the environment, then every watch counts and arbitrarily excluding the more expensive models flies in the face of it.
iPad mini is a product in the lineup
I originally feared that Apple was just gouging extra profit, but the price for the Apple Watch and Sport band/loop has come down £20 in the UK.
Jason Snell seemed to think on Upgrade that you could just add extra Storage as a top up.
Then I wholeheartedly agree with the step they implemented. Was afraid they’d gone the “you can buy these here” route
I got my wish with the new Ipad Air 4. I previously bought an Ipad Pro but found it too heavy so gifted to my daughter.
I am still sporting an iPhone 7 so may be compelled with new 5G phone release this year.
My 16GB memory is killing me on my Macpro 15" 2017. Damn, I just bought this prior to expanded memory version coming out. So looking like a fully loaded 16" is in my future.
I think the technology curve is flattening out and Apple is pushing services to replace this declining revenue stream. I think others supply better content so I do not plan on using Apple services as offered.
What are others here contemplating?
From Apple:
„What if I need more iCloud storage?
You can purchase additional iCloud storage separately to supplement what’s included with your Apple One plan.“
