Adding one more Capisco. Money well spent
I have a SecretLab Titan XL waiting to be assembled in the foyer. I cannot waitā¦
+1 for the Hag Capisco. Found one on CL in my area. It desperately needed reupholstery which was easy enough with help from Fully. One great aspectāif you get a tall oneāis that you can āperchāākinda throw one leg on it and stand on the other leg. Iām hooked.
My wife is contemplating the Soul Seat. Has anyone used it before and can speak to how comfortable it is?
Resurrecting an old thread because I just splurged on a Steelcase Series 1 Stool as my new office chair. Our built in desk is taller than normal ( 32.5 inches from floor to top , Normal is 28 or 29 inches) I am short with short legs. I need a stool and a foot rest to be comfortable. I got it with arm rests, not sure I would do that again, because it makes it hard to twist to the 3 different computer/display combos I have on my desk to work. But⦠overall I LOVE it. Not the most expensive chair on the list but itās working for me. YMMV.
I have an office chair where the arms are always in the lowest possible position. Thatās not the right position to support them while Iām typing or anything, but it gives me a place they can drop to without falling all the way down. Makes them less likely to whack a desk or something in the process of turning, so it works well for me; YMMV.
When you say stool, do you mean it doesnāt have a backrest. I canāt find a āstoolā in my search.
Iām still saving and selling organs to buy a Hag Capisco!

Itās called a stool because itās taller, to be used with drafting tables and other taller work surfaces.
Well that was easy. I searched both the Australian and US sites but nothing showed up. Thanks for the info
Incidentally, the only real difference (most of the time) is the piston and the little foot ring thingy. If you have a chair that you like that youād like to be taller and donāt care about the foot ring, or a stool that youād rather have be a chair where you donāt mind losing the foot ring, you can frequently just buy a new piston and change it out.
Itās interesting to see this post get resurrected again and all the praise for the Capisco. I just tried one in a store last weekend while killing some time, and Iām really considering it. I have an Aeron right now, but my office also serves as my guitar space and music studio, and the Aeronās arms get in the way. When I mentioned this at the store while trying the Capisco, the sales rep told me he sells Capiscos to music studios and guitarists all the time.
For those of you who have had yours for a couple years now, do you still like them? How have they held up?
Iāve had a Capisco in grey fabric (I forget the details of exactly which fabric) since early April 2020. I use it most days. It still looks pretty much like new; top marks for durability.
As for comfort, Iām on the fence. I find myself fidgeting while using it; I donāt slump into a comfortable position and stay there, but rather keep moving around. That is, as @MacSparky notes above, the point ā and no doubt itās good for my health, but I find it tends to break my focus on days when I really need to concentrate for extended periods.
This mirrors my experience. I tried the Capisco a year or two ago for about a month. I liked it, but didnāt love it. Itās a lot of money to spend on something that will teach you a lesson, but not be comfortable. That being said, I got the Fully Desk Chair instead because it was a lot cheaper and donāt really like it either.
Thereās a marketing slogan. āCapisco - itāll teach you a lesson youāll never forget.ā
Thatās all very interesting. Itās a lot of money to learn a lesson (how ominous). Is there a good office chair without armrests? You used to be able to order Herman Miller stuff, sans armrests, but I noticed that option disappear in the past few years.
Is it not possible to just remove the armrests from your current Aeron? Iāve done that with all the office chairs Iāve used.
I agree though that it would be nice to have the option for chairs to not include them in general.
Iāve had a tan leather one for a couple years now in my home office. Looks like new and remains my favorite desk chair. Iād like to get one for my work office, but have been making due with a ~10 year old aeron that my office inherited. If I ever saw a good deal, Iād replace it with a second capisco.
Believe it or not, it is not responsible to remove them from the Aeron without significant disassembly.
The best office chair Iāve ever had. Mine is owned by the organisation I work for, but should I ever leave Iāll be looking for one second hand. Weāve had the same ones for about ten years, and had them serviced a while ago.
I used one for three years, then had to manage without for the first six months of the pandemic, when I used a cheap alternative. All I can say is, ouch. I have chronic pain, and the pain I used to experience sitting in an office chair by Tuesday, I didnāt experience until Friday after I started using one. They do take a bit of fine tuning to get them exactly how you like them.
Removing the arms isnāt easy, but itās not terribly complex either, just requires a screwdriver.
