This might be the first beta I run on iOS in a few years…
They keep setting off my HomePods.
If Siri works as well as they are claiming, will it outshine Copilot and Gemini?
The real question is whether it beats CoPilot integration in Windows and whatever Android’s doing, I think.
By which I mean, not just outperforming the models, but OS-level integrations.
Those are the two big questions — my point is Siri probably won’t beat CoPilot/Gemini in LLM performance, but the integrations are probably better.
If what I’ve heard is true and iPhone 14 Pro won’t be able to run AI, what I’m seeing here might be sufficient to get me to upgrade this fall…
I hope these writing tools will work with my Proton apps. I’ll feel a little left out if it doesn’t.
It’s certainly looking to me like they’re getting Sherlocked.
A lot of these AI-prioritizing features make me wary…
“Apple Intelligence analyzes the content of your notifications to show you only the ones that might be important.” Hrm…
I’m ok with it if it’s all done on device
All this AI stuff is explaining why actual OS updates were sparse. Why add power to iPadOS when AI can help you understand iPadOS better.
I’m not worried about the privacy issues because it’s “on-device” (though the cloud AI solution kinda changes that) — but I don’t love a computer deciding what’s important to me. That’s never produced good results for me, haha
I wonder whether it will take correction, and learn over time.
More stuff that doesn’t work on what I got, and can’t afford…
They need to document and disclose which models are stored locally or offer an opt-in/opt-out method for cloud based models.
I’m ok with this. There was enough here for me to be happy, and might save me a few bucks every month.
I’m thrilled with this, but Android has had that for well over a decade. If only we could change the number of rows and columns to match the size of our iPhones and personal preference.
Not just ChatGPT. They intend on adding support for alternative models!! Amazing.
Oh I am well aware. I switched to iOS from Android and railed against this lacking customizability for years!
Thanks all, it was fun hanging out with you.
