@GraemeS Your chart would probably be better if the software apps would be categorized. Below is a snippet of my Mac Apps that I originally put into MindNode but switched to MindManager as the visuals are better and so many other improvements such as being able to publish mind maps on their website
Well, that would be up to @anon41602260 to do. I am in the process of distilling my list down with minimum software apps and then focus on taking a deeper dive into the use of this reduced set of apps.
I used About this Mac: 850 apps. Maybe we should start a 12 step program. It’s possible we’re virtual hoarders…LOL. Most have been idle for a few years.

Rather long post (understandably). You can collapse all that with this control in the Discourse edit box. Saves your fellow mates from hand and motion stress from all the scrolling
My list includes some duplicates, which I will have to investigate. Wonder why I show 3 installs of IDLE and 3 Python Launchers? And 2 of Microsoft Remote Desktop?

I need a judges ruling to see if duplicates and old version should be excluded from the total. I vote that they should not.
@EZ-Rider What is the reasoning behind keeping various versions of the same software?
I am finding it is harder to eradicate Adobe software than COVID-19 no wonder Steve Jobs gave it the boot. I needed to install Adobe AIR to run a app. That failed as Apple quarantined this app and I am still trying to eradicate it.
Sometimes it is enjoyable (at least to me) to rediscover the apps that we have installed. Sorta like the collector enjoying their collection.
Another program that I have been using for this examination is an App available on the App store name “List My Apps”
One of the issues discovered is that I was trying to put apps into folders such as Word Processing programs into a Word Processing folder but some OEM’s when it is updated place it in the base Applications Folder causing duplicate app files with different versions.
Personally I prefer Homebrew to install Python. Besides the fact that it can automatically update (e.g. with @tjluoma’s script) it also just installs Python without all the IDLE and Python Launcher stuff (which you probably don’t use/need anyway).
At the bottom of your post, you should see a pencil Icon which allows you to edit. Then it will open the edit box and the options will be available at the top of the edit box
